Frequently Asked Questions

How many people fit on a hayride?

30-35 people

How long is the hayride?

The hayride of horrors is a 45 minute ride through our haunted woods, where you will see scenes featuring our actors and animatronics. Midway through, we stop for some our special cyanide cider and decomposed doughnuts!

When do you open?

Our parking lot is available starting at 6pm, and our on-site ticket booth opens at dusk, about 6:30. Our hayride is best seen in the dark of night, and our attractions begin once we've deemed it's dark enough to scare you, after sunset every night. While you're waiting for the attractions to begin, we have a concession stand selling hot food and treats, with picnic tables to sit at, and an area for you to take photos.

What time do you close?

We close after the last hayride is over, which is about 45 minutes to an hour. The last ride of the evening depends on the day and the last reservation time. We close later on Friday nights and Saturday nights, usually well after 10PM, and Sunday nights between 10 and 10:45.

Do I need a reservation?

Purchasing a ticket online is your way of making a reservation. Make sure you arrive by 9:30 to ensure you have enough time to get through our attractions. We also accept reservations for groups of 10 or more. Visit our group reservations section for information on making those reservations.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes, when you purchase your tickets online you can use any major credit card through our PurplePass checkout. You do not need a PurplePass account to purchase online. All of our in-person ticket sales, as well as our refreshment stand, are cash only for the haunting season.

Do you have clowns?

Yes, Yes, Yes; we have all kinds of ghouls.

Do you use strobe lights?

Yes, strobe light effects are in use during the hayride and corn maze attractions. Please proceed with discretion if you have a condition that will be affected by strobe lights.

Do you use fog machines?

Yes, fog machines are used in both the corn maze and during the hayride.

What ages is this appropriate for?

Our event is intended for fun for the whole family. Parents should keep in mind that, although everything you see and experience on our farm is performed by actors, and is completely safe, we do our best to play into your fears. Some children who are happy and content to watch a scary movie with no affect, may become very afraid when seeing our actors and scare scenes in person.

Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult during the attractions.

What happens if someone from our group needs to leave the attraction early?

There are exits available to patrons who are in the corn maze and need to make a hasty retreat. Please tell an attendant if you need to exit. If you need to exit the hayride for any reason, please notify the wagon driver. We are not able to provide refunds to any guests who are unable to complete their visit.

Do you have group discounts?

Yes, we provide a group rate for schools or organizations who visit us and have more than 10 people in their party. Please see our group reservation section for details on contacting us to set up special pricing.

We also have have student discount pricing on Sundays for those who buy their tickets in person on the farm. You must show your current/valid Student ID when you purchase your ticket. Remember that we only accept cash payments on the farm.

How long will I be there to do both attractions?

To go through both attractions it can take about 90 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the evening, and the pace you wish to take during our corn maze.

Is there anything to do while we wait?

We do have refreshments stand in the parking area next to the ticket booth. Refrehment sales are cash only.

If you are attending both the hayride and our corn maze, you may enjoy the maze's choose-your-own-adventure experience that you can go through while you are waiting for the next Hayride. Don't forget to take plenty of selfies and post them to Facebook and Instagram. Please tag us on Instagram at @hayride_of_horrors and with the hashtag #HayrideOfHorrorsNJ.

What type of shoes should I wear?

Since both activities at the Hayride of Horrors are outdoors, we encourage you to dress accordingly, and wear sensible shoes. Sneakers or boots are perfect. Do not wear flip flops or high heels! You'll never escape our monsters that way.
